Come on board with us

The spirit of our journeys

Before you jump on board for good, we’ll tell you a bit more about what to expect!

We’ve already introduced ourselves here, and the story of Vertigo Blue’s origins is here. Below we explain in detail the spirit behind our travels:

The general atmosphere

Both on board and on land, our courses are held in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We only sail in small groups (4 to 6 people), which allows us to adapt to each person and to get to know each other better. This also means that, to get on board, you need to be willing to participate in a collective experience!

The comfort

The vessels on which we sail are selected from among professional charter companies. They are recent, well maintained and generally very well equipped in terms of comfort (sanitary facilities with hot water, modern kitchen, recent electrical and electronic equipments, comfortable berths…). However, it is important to be aware that a sailing boat has small living space. On board you have to manage to share the space with others, store your belongings and limit your water and energy consumption.

The rhytme

Our stays are sporty ones. The daily rhythm is dynamic, but without pushing it too far: we still consider that you are on holiday, that you are there to challenge yourself but also to enjoy! A typical day could go something like this: Breakfast at 8am, getting the equipment ready at 9.30am, departure for the day’s activities at 10am. Lunch break from 1pm to 2pm, end of activities around 5:30pm, aperitif at 7pm, meal around 8:30pm. We also plan a few moments off during each week (the equivalent of one or two half days).

On-board logistics

We plan everything as much as possible so that you don’t have to think about anything during your stay: food and menus, the schedule and transfers, the equipment to be provided… We try to make things as simple and as good as possible, taking into consideration the individual constraints of each person. However, we ask you to participate in the various daily tasks, in turns: preparation of meals, cleaning, stowing away of equipment, routine maintenance of the boat. The cleaning of the boat at the end of your stay is included in the costs and is provided by the charter companies.

The activities

We are qualified, passionate and experienced instructors: we are here to teach you as much as possible, to help you progress in the practice of each activity and to push you towards independence. That said, our trips are adapted for beginners, and everything is organised without pressure… the aim is above all to enjoy the experience! With just the right amount of effort and adrenaline to properly enjoy the aperitif at the end of the day!

Equipment and safety

We provide group and safety equipment for all activities. We ask you to bring your own personal equipment, although we can provide certain things, and we are always available to help you pack before you arrive.

We always make sure that you are guided in the best safety conditions: choice of the practice sites and itineraries, adjustment of the schedule according to the weather conditions and the group’s state of fatigue, particular attention to the quality and good condition of the safety equipment.

Relationship to the Environment

We do not pretend that our trips do not have any impact on the surrounding environment. However, we try to be as respectful as possible, to limit our impact and to consider the fragility of the sites we visit. This starts with the choice of itineraries, the practice of travelling in small groups and the preference for departures outside the high tourist season.

On a day-to-day basis, we make sure that we are well informed in order to minimise disturbance of the balance of the areas we visit, that we limit, collect and separate our wastes, and that we use energy wisely.

The pleasure of discovery

We choose our itineraries in locations that we find exceptional and that we like particularly. Also, during our trips, we schedule the necessary time to discover these places in detail, through sports practice of course, but not only. Exploring small villages, hiking along the trails… and not forgetting the local gastronomy!

The food supply

Well…it’s quite simple, we love eating. In fact, our destinations are pretty rich in terms of gastronomy. We are particularly keen to offer you healthy, simple and local food, so that you can enjoy yourself and stay in shape while discovering the local specialities. We buy as much as possible from local stores, and we always look for the little restaurant that is not too expensive but really good.

Guarantees

All our trips are organised in partnership with travel agencies, which we have already presented here, in order to provide you with all the necessary insurance to leave with confidence.

We are also members of SPEN (Syndicat Professionnel des Educateurs du Nautisme) and l’AN3S (Association Nationale Sport, Santé, Social). As such, our activities are covered by the group professional liability insurance contract n° 675047304 subscribed by AN3S with AXA France IARD, for the year 2022, and by the Mutuaide Assistance multi-risk contract n°IA2200075.
